Dear parents/carers and families of year 2 children (for September 2020)
Welcome to our school website – we understand things are very strange right now, but we hope you are all taking care of each other and staying safe. At Consett Junior School our aim is to give your child the best Education possible. Our dedicated team aim to give your child the very best start in life, allowing them to grow and flourish in all that they do. We are so pleased you have chosen our school in the next step of your child’s learning journey…
During these challenging times we are trying our best to reach out to all of our new families. By now we would usually have arranged transition days for our pupils; uniform sizing sessions; parent/carer drop-in sessions; summer school and taster after school clubs. Unfortunately, we have been unable to do so this year and are relying on our website and communication methods to keep in touch with you.
Below you will find links to various websites and documents and also links to parts of our existing website that will support you in preparing your children for when they join our school.
Over the last half of the summer term we will upload videos and images so please keep checking back as this page will be updated regularly.
Any forms that we need you to complete for your child starting with us, will be posted out to the address you stated on your original admissions form with the local authority.

App: We use ‘OurSchoolApp’ which can be downloaded from the Apple or Googleplay store, it is updated regularly and is a cheaper and easier means of communication. Anyone can download this app to their device. The app is our preferred method of communication, if you do not download the app you are at risk of missing important information.
As the transition for children will be different this year, we have created a specific email for any questions you may have about your child starting in Year 3 at CJS. This email is only accessed by Mrs McMahon, Miss White and Mr Dixon and questions must be applicable to their education, timetable, or other class related queries. If they cannot answer your question they will contact the appropriate person email@example.com Please do not email regarding how/if classes have been set. Once we are confident with the class sets you will be informed and queries should only be emailed to Mr Dixon using the school email (below).
If your email is not specific to their education, for example, it relates to finance, issues, concerns, clubs, or anything you know your teacher may not be able to answer then please email firstname.lastname@example.org as Mr Dixon and Mrs Raine will be able to help.
If your child has Special Education Needs we are planning some transition and catch up/liaison sessions and will contact these families directly in order to ensure we support you as best as we can. We are working closely with the Infant School staff to ensure all information is shared.

Each time we update this page we will let you know. We are very close to setting classes and once we do we will send you a link to who your child’s teacher will be. We have decided to inform you via a text and video message from their new teacher, it will be fun as the children will need to listen for their name to be read out in the video.
Thank you for taking the time to read our page.
