Welcome to Class 2 2021/22. The Class Teacher is Miss White and there are 30 pupils in the class. This class is supported by Miss Atkinson.
Hi! I’m Miss White and this will be my second year at Consett Junior School and teaching in Year 3. I have been teaching for 4 years now and have had experience across KS1 & KS2. I love teaching Year 3 and seeing the children mature from the infants but also providing them with a nurturing experience as they start their new journey at the Juniors. In my free time I love spending money on clothes, shoes and handbags, usually in the Metrocentre! When I am not stuffing shopping bags into my wardrobe (Oops), I enjoy being in the outdoors with my beautiful dog Reggie or staying active in the gym.
About Class 2
Class 2 is all about settling into their new school and adapting to new teachers, routines and being around older children. Children in Class 2 always demonstrate resilience and kindness no matter what. I look forward to finding out each unique quality of the pupils in Class 2 and tailoring the curriculum around their needs.
I am very passionate about reading and try and instil this hobby within the children I teach. This term we will be studying two fantastic books. ‘Gorilla’ by Anthony Browne and ‘Stone Age Boy’ by Satoshi Kitamura. The children will be immersed in each story, taking part in many experience days to bring the books to life. I can’t wait to share our brilliant writing and creativity with everybody.
In Math’s we will be using White Rose to develop our mathematical skills and understanding. The first term will focus on place value, addition and subtraction as well as multiplication and division. After half term we will start using Times Tables Rockstars to develop quick recall of multiplication and division facts- I’m sure there will be lots of competition to beat me!
We’ll be learning about the Stone Age through to the Iron Age and this will centre around our History as well as Art and DT. I particularly enjoy the Computing curriculum in Year 3 where the class have the opportunity to explore the internet safely and responsibly, using our class blog and making their own websites. Our PE lessons are (indoor) Monday and (outdoor) Thursday, the children can come to school wearing their PE kits. Please check out the uniform requirements for P.E lessons. We will give out prizes for those consistently wearing correct uniform at the end of each term. My favourite units of work in P.E have been Yoga and Fitness. I look forward to seeing who will be championing their house team during Sports Day in the summer term.
