“I would just like to take some time to tell you of some excellent results for your School Kitchen and its catering service that is offered to the children.

In the last 2 weeks we have had three separate annual assessments. They all came at once!

Firstly, our Taylor Shaw run kitchen was awarded a 100% rating in its annual Durham County Council Performance Assessment. This rates food quality and nutrition, safe working practices as well as staff performance and interaction with our customers, your children.

Secondly, the Kitchen has also become the joint highest performing in the local area as assessed by Internal Audit and Performance Assessors who work on behalf of Taylor Shaw and its parent company, Elior. These specifically look at the areas of Food Safety/Hygiene and Health and Safety.

Lastly, your Kitchen has again been awarded a Level 5 Rating by Durham County council Environmental Health Department is its very recent inspection.

These inspections and assessments show that we are ensuring your child is being given an individual service which provides top quality nutritional ingredients in a safe and welcoming environment.

Well, what an exciting week we have had in Year 6!  We arrived at school on Wednesday morning to find a crime scene!  On further investigation, we predicted that an animal had entered school through an open window and completely ransacked class 8.  We were later informed by Sgt Raine that a grizzly bear had made its way from Edinburgh zoo to Consett in the luggage compartment of a bus.  We’ve decided to write a newspaper report on the incident to inform the local community.
