WEATHER PERMITTING, our sports day tomorrow (11th July) is still planned to go ahead. It will start at 1.30 p.m. at Consett Rugby Club. We are aiming for the event to finish at 3.00 p.m., which allows families time to collect siblings from the Infant School, if applicable.
As we are holding this event at the Rugby Club we have capacity for all parents/carers to attend to cheer their child through their race. The races on the day are being organised by Mr Meadows and Mr Smith (Sports Coach), but all teachers will be supporting on the day. All the children’s races will be mixed up throughout the afternoon, to ensure they are active at different points and not sat on the grass for long periods of time. This also means that no child is able to leave with their parent/carer until 3.00 p.m., after the House Cup has been awarded.
We are told to expect some new races this year as well as some old favourites; egg and spoon; sack race; sprints. As you know, we enjoy parental involvement, and although we do want you to cheer your child on, please ensure you remain behind the field barriers and do not come on the pitches where the carousel of races are being held. There may also be children competing who do not have a family member, so cheer others on if you know their name.
PARENT RACE!!!! There WILL be a parent race, so if you wish to take part in this, please dress suitable for the occasion. If there are no volunteers, Mrs Raine will be shouting individual names out using the Hailer…be prepared .
Please prepare your child on the day by sending them in wearing their sports clothes, providing them with a water bottle, applying sun cream, a suitable coat in case it is raining and ensuring they have a sun hat. If you are not able to attend the event, can children be collected from the Rugby Club at 3.00 p.m. Any children not collected will be walked back to school for the usual 3.30 p.m. finish. Wildcats football and Netball club are still on. We look forward to welcoming you on the day.
