My name is Miss Waters and I am Deputy Headteacher and SENCO at Consett Junior School. I have been a teacher for 11 years now, teaching mainly in Year 6. I love working at Consett Junior School as this is my hometown and I actually came to this school as a child, so I am extremely passionate about ensuring every child achieves their full potential while they are here. On evenings after school I like to swim and play the cornet in Consett Brass Band. I also enjoy spending quality time with friends, family and Nala, my kitten.
About Class 8
Class 8 will be working really hard this year as the all-important SATs tests approach but we will also have some good fun along the way!
This half term our class will be focusing on the text ‘Wonder’. If any of the children want to get a head start they could watch the film!
In Maths we are working hard, to improve the speed of our times table recall. We are focusing on problem solving and reasoning in Maths. We still have lots to cover before SATs such as co-ordinates, angles and translation.
Children have access to Accelerated Reader from school and home and are encouraged to use this site by logging in with their unique passwords.

Lockdown Time Capsule
Hopefully before the end of term we will bury the time capsule in the school grounds. The capsule is part of a project run by Mark Wilkinson Photography. Photographs Mark has received will be printed and placed in the time capsule which will be buried for ten years. To accompany the photographs we are asking the children to write a letter and place it in a sealed envelope. The letter can be about time in lock down, things children did, how they felt, anything they feel relevant. We do want the children to include the date, their age, their class teacher and their first name. But they must not include surnames, phone numbers or their address.
In 2030 we will dig up the capsule and all contents will form part of a history event for our future CJS children.
