Welcome to Class 2 2020/21. The Class Teacher is Miss White and there are currently 18 pupils in the class. This class is supported by Miss Hughes and Miss Oselton.
My name is Miss White and this will be my first year at Consett Junior School. I am so excited to get to know the community and my new class! I have been teaching for 3 years now and spent that time in Cumbria after I finished University in Lancaster. My favourite thing about teaching is the excitement on children’s faces when they achieve something – teaching really is the best job in the world.
In my free time I love going to the Metrocentre and taking my very excitable dog, Reggie, on adventures. During longer school holidays I love travelling to different parts of the world and trying new food!
About Class 2
Class 2 will have a fantastic year settling into Consett Junior School. I’m looking forward to lots of lessons outdoors as well as finding out what my class love doing, whether it be playing an instrument, sharing our favourite books or demonstrating their amazing talents.
This term we will be studying two fantastic books. ‘Gorilla’ by Anthony Browne and ‘Stone Age Boy’ by Satoshi Kitamura. I can’t wait to share our brilliant writing and creativity with everybody.
In Math’s we will be using White Rose to develop our mathematical skills and understanding. The first term will focus on place value, addition and subtraction as well as multiplication and division. After half term we will start using Times Tables Rockstars to develop quick recall of multiplication and division facts- I’m sure there will be lots of competition to beat me!
We’ll be learning about the Stone Age through to the Iron Age and this will centre around our History as well as Art and DT. I’m looking forward to learning French with Class 2 and developing our computing skills. Our PE lessons are Monday and Thursday, until restrictions are eased and bags are allowed to be brought into school the children can come to school wearing their PE kits.

Lockdown Time Capsule
Hopefully before the end of term we will bury the time capsule in the school grounds. The capsule is part of a project run by Mark Wilkinson Photography. Photographs Mark has received will be printed and placed in the time capsule which will be buried for ten years. To accompany the photographs we are asking the children to write a letter and place it in a sealed envelope. The letter can be about time in lock down, things children did, how they felt, anything they feel relevant. We do want the children to include the date, their age, their class teacher and their first name. But they must not include surnames, phone numbers or their address.
In 2030 we will dig up the capsule and all contents will form part of a history event for our future CJS children.
