Welcome to Class 1 2019/20. The Class Teacher is Mrs McMahon and there are currently 28 pupils in this class. This class is supported by Mrs Taylor who teaches every Monday and Miss Parker, who is our Teaching Assistant.
My name is Mrs McMahon and I’ve been at Consett Junior School for many years now! I really enjoy tap and ballet dancing, playing the violin (when I get the time) and watching musical theatre. I have two young children and most of my weekends are spent at Beamish Museum, Gibside or a soft play!
About Class 1
I’m really looking forward to getting to know all the new children in my class. I had a lovely day when they came to visit and I’m excited for the year ahead.
We will introduce the children to greetings, asking and saying their name, counting, colours.
For the first half term the children will be learning how to play cricket developing their bat and ball skills. In the second half term we will learn a dance for the winter show then take part in some outdoor adventurous activities. We also swim every week on a Thursday afternoon.

Lockdown Time Capsule
Hopefully before the end of term we will bury the time capsule in the school grounds. The capsule is part of a project run by Mark Wilkinson Photography. Photographs Mark has received will be printed and placed in the time capsule which will be buried for ten years. To accompany the photographs we are asking the children to write a letter and place it in a sealed envelope. The letter can be about time in lock down, things children did, how they felt, anything they feel relevant. We do want the children to include the date, their age, their class teacher and their first name. But they must not include surnames, phone numbers or their address.
In 2030 we will dig up the capsule and all contents will form part of a history event for our future CJS children.
