After Easter we are offering a form of nurture group as a small supportive after school club for up to 25 children. The children in this nurture group will spend an hour of each week with a mixture of other year group peers, for a range of planned activities. The nurture group aims to provide a warm and welcoming environment which contains aspects of home and school, with plenty of space and resources for fun activities, such as music, singing, games, dance and any activities the children may request. It is a safe, predictable environment where the unique developmental needs of each child is met. Our nurture group will be staffed by two/three adults, Mrs Hannant, Mrs Raine and Miss Oselton.
The nature of the relationships which the staff of the nurture group have with the children is explicitly supportive and courteous. The staff provide role models for the children and want to enhance their confidence, relationships with others and pride in themselves. The task of the staff is to make the children feel accepted and valued, to engage them in learning and in the life of the school, and to help them relate to each other by using the group dynamics to foster and promote strong relationships. As confidence grows, we hope each child grows within themselves, which will support them as they grow and achieve throughout our school and beyond.
We have invited families if we feel their child will benefit from attending this club. It is optional so please do not feel that your child has to come along, but it will be a fun club! This after school club will commence on Thursday 19th April until 4.30 p.m. until the end of the Summer Term. The cost of the club is £1 per week and the children can also bring an additional £1 as we will run a small tuck shop during the session. If you would like to book your child onto this ‘invitation’ only club, please return the slip attached to the letter (sent out on Monday 19th March), before Thursday 29th March and confirmation will be returned asap, please be aware that places are likely to go quickly.
If you would like further information, or would like to speak to us about this group, please feel free to get in touch. Kind regards Mrs Hannant, Mrs Raine, and Miss Oselton
