It has come to my attention, via social media, that some parents are venting frustration regarding decisions made by us in terms of planned events, in particular our Race for Life next Friday. Our decision to hold our Race for Life event on the same day as Consett Infant school sports day was an inadvertent error on my behalf, we obviously cannot hold both events on our school field. As a parent of a child in both schools, I recognise the difficult decision that some of our parents will have to make, I too will be missing my son’s sports day…
However, the fact that we have had to move venues actually allows families so support us in our event to raise money for a very worthy cause, and has also enabled us to turn this into an extended social event. If our Race for Life was held at our school, families would not have been able to attend.
Can I remind parents that my door is always open and we are at the end of the phone, should they wish to discuss any concerns they have as opposed to posting these concerns on social media, which we are always made aware of…in life these days negative ‘posts’ often seem the ones people feel necessary to share, whilst the positive ones remain invisible.
All schools have busy timetables at this time of the year, which staff work very hard to pull together. I am very proud of all they do.
