What an amazing day!!!
On Saturday we welcomed over 100 people into school to join us in raising money for Children’s Cancer UK, it is obviously a very worthy cause; made even more important as one of our pupils and one future pupil are suffering from Leukemia at the moment. It has become very real for us here at school, when you realise that two children, Emily and Ethan, have been affected – it is difficult to imagine what their families must go through.
The camaraderie and atmosphere were amazing before the run, so many smiles on faces. We all took part in a Joe Wicks warm up, i’m sure that caused me more issues than prepared me for the 5k run!
As always Mrs Raine was there to keep everyone in check…we were treated to some kind weather and some welcomed support. I am eternally grateful to my governors who either ran, or marshaled the course for us; also Yvonne, Keith, Ann, Jackie, Lisa and Rebecca for helping on the day.
I know Emily’s family have been overwhelmed by the support they have received from not just the school, but the wider community of Consett. Each and every shop that they past through Leadgate supported the cause.
As you can see from the photographs below we had a great day, with some fantastic times, others, like myself just happy to take part. Congratulations to Lucy, Ethan and Alfie for coming in the top three…
We are hoping to have all the sponsor money in by next Thursday (24th May), we will let everyone know the grand total next week.
Thanks again to everyone who supported a worthy cause and supported our families who are going through some tough times.
Don’t forget to sponsor Mrs Raine for her Ultra Marathon on 16th June, she is also raising money for Children with Cancer UK. She has a sponsor from in school, or you can visit https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/DawnRaine
