A group of children, from the school band, were selected to attend a special rehearsal on Saturday 23rd March, which was led by the legendary Brett Baker. Brett is one of Europe’s leading brass performers and educators. He was in Consett this weekend taking part in an event which celebrated 140 years of Consett Salvation Army Band. At this event he starred as guest soloist for Brass Impact, a brass band made up of Salvation Army players from around the North East. Brett comes to Consett regularly and works with the children in our school, so he kindly offered to lead an extra band rehearsal while he was here. At this rehearsal, Brett spent time with the more experienced children in the Junior band practising pieces of music for the concert with White River Brass on July 5th (date for the diary!) The children really love working with Brett ‘because he is funny’ and particularly enjoyed practising some choreography to go with their playing.
Thank you for your continued support.
